Julian Memetaj

Communications assistant

Julian joined the European Association for Information on Local Development in 2020. He is responsible for ensuring the integration of communications, advocacy and outreach priorities.
As a brave communicator who has lived and worked in cities throughout Europe, his truly European perspective can help EU institutions and/or companies’ services to get heard, understood and seen in a busy marketplace of ideas.
Julian has a sharp political mind, bold ideas that have made him a trusted advisor on some of the most pressing global issues facing business and society today.
Previously, Julian worked as an accredited parliamentary assistant in the European Parliament, covering the Committee of Foreign Affairs and its subcommittee on Human Rights, as well as the committees of Employment and Industry Technology and Research. He served as the Director of the Global Sustain consultancy and Communications and Research Associate for the Foundation of Global Governance and Sustainability in Brussels.
Earlier in his career, Julian worked as an election observer for the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), researched Middle East issues with the Council of European Palestinian Relations and the University of Exeter, and interned with the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy and the European Roma Information Office.
He sits on the Board of European Demos – European Expression in Belgium. Julian holds a post-graduate degree in Political Science from the University of Nottingham and a degree in Communications from the State University of New York.
